Remove Noise and Enhance Speech: Studio-Quality Voice Recordings
Our Remove Noise tool cleans speech recordings of unwanted sound, reverb and background noise while normalizing the loudness. The result sounds noticeably calmer and more professional, much like a podcast or a radio broadcast. You pick an audio file and get an enhanced version to download moments later. Everything runs 100 % locally in your browser: your audio is never sent to a server or stored anywhere.
This works through a local AI model that runs directly on your device. It removes noise and reverb, evens out loud and quiet passages and brings the result to a consistent loudness target. You can choose between Podcast, YouTube/Spotify and Broadcast targets and adjust the processing strength with a slider. The model loads only on first use and is then cached in your browser. Your audio never leaves your device.
How it works
Load an audio or video file (the audio track is processed), choose a loudness target and an output format, then click the "Remove noise" button. The tool decodes the file right in your browser, enhances the track with the AI model and delivers the result as MP3 or WAV for download. A summary shows duration, processing time and the input loudness.
A concrete example: A voice memo recorded in a café with audible background noise and clattering dishes is processed so the voice sits clearly in the foreground and the background noise largely disappears. Recordings with uneven loudness, where the speaker is sometimes close to the mic and sometimes further away, are also brought to an even level.
Typical use cases
- Podcasts: clean voice recordings of noise and reverb before publishing
- Voiceover & E-learning: make narrated videos and presentations clearer
- Video meetings: improve recordings of calls and webinars afterwards
- Voice memos & dictation: brighten up on-the-go recordings
- Interviews & reports: strip background noise from clips and conversations
Important: review the result yourself
Enhancement improves intelligibility but is not magic reconstruction. Heavily distorted or extremely noisy recordings can only be recovered to a degree, and occasional artifacts are possible. So always listen to the full result before publishing or using it. The tool outputs a mono track at 48 kHz, which is ideal for speech.
Frequently asked questions
Which files can I use?
Common audio formats such as MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC, plus the audio track from MP4 videos. The file should be no larger than about 300 MB.
Are my audio files sent to a server?
No. Every step runs entirely in your browser. Your file is not transmitted to a server or stored anywhere.
What does "local AI" mean?
The tool uses a local AI model (DeepFilterNet 3 based, by Desert Ant Labs) that runs directly on your device. It downloads on first use, is then cached in your browser and needs no internet connection to process.
Which loudness targets are available?
Podcast/Broadcast at about −19 LUFS, YouTube/Spotify at about −14 LUFS and broadcast-close at about −23 LUFS. The default suits most speech recordings.
Does the tool change the voice?
The model removes noise and reverb and evens out loudness without artificially altering the voice. The amount of processing is adjustable with the strength slider.
Why is the result mono?
Speech is clearest in mono and it also saves file size. The model works on a mono track at 48 kHz, the standard for high-quality voice recordings.
Does processing run in real time?
On most devices it is noticeably faster than real time. Processing time depends on the recording length and your device. Keep the tab open while it works.

How does the tool work?
Once you choose a file, a script in your browser decodes the audio track and converts it to a uniform format. The local AI model then analyzes the frequencies: it separates the voice from noise, room reverb and background sound, boosts the voice and evens out loud and quiet passages. Afterwards the result is normalized to your chosen loudness target and delivered as MP3 or WAV for download. Every step runs on your device, with no upload and no queue.
Why a clean track is worth it
A noisy recording distracts from the content and quickly looks amateurish. Whether podcast, voiceover, training video or a recorded meeting: listeners abandon content with distracting background hiss more often and sooner. A tidy track with a clear voice and even loudness boosts intelligibility, looks more professional and sounds pleasant on both speakers and headphones. Especially for speech content where intelligibility matters, the short cleanup pays off.
Your file never leaves your device
That is the core of this tool: every step runs 100 % locally in your browser. Your audio is not sent to any server, not cached and not stored. You need no account and no sign-up, and the AI model works directly on your device. Even with confidential or sensitive recordings, everything stays on your machine. Once you close the page, nothing of it remains.
