Video Converter: compress, convert, trim and more
This video converter bundles five common tasks in one tool: compress a video, convert it to another format, trim a section, extract only the audio track or grab a still frame. Processing runs entirely in your browser on a real FFmpeg engine. Your file never leaves your device.
What can the video converter do?
The Compress tab shrinks a video via target format, quality and an optional width cap. Convert changes the container and codec, for example to MP4 (H.264) for maximum compatibility. With Trim you cut a time range out of the file. Audio extracts just the sound as MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG, and Frame exports a single still as PNG or JPG.
Faster than real time thanks to a real encoder
Unlike plain browser screen captures, this tool uses the real FFmpeg encoder (libx264 for MP4, libvpx for WebM). Re-encoding is therefore much faster than the video length and produces a precise result file. The engine is downloaded once on first use (about 32 MB) and then cached by the browser. It does not block the page: the interface appears immediately, and the loading screen only covers the moment the engine is first needed.
Your file stays private, everything is local
All steps run on your device. The video is never sent to a server and is not stored. Only process videos you have the rights to, and respect the copyright of others.
Frequently asked questions
How long does compression take?
Because a real encoder is used, processing is faster than the video length. A short video is usually done in a few seconds. The engine is downloaded once on first use (about 32 MB) and then cached.
Will my file always get smaller?
Not necessarily. Already heavily compressed videos barely shrink further. The tool shows the new size and tells you when the output is not smaller.
Which output formats are available?
MP4 (H.264) and WebM (VP8) for video, MP3, M4A, WAV and OGG for audio, and PNG or JPG for still frames.
Can I shorten a video?
Yes. In the Trim tab you enter a start time and optionally a duration, for example start 0:05 and duration 10 for the seconds 5 to 15.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser, your videos are never sent to a server and are not stored.
Does the tool need a server?
No. The FFmpeg engine is a standalone program that is loaded from the web server as part of the page and then runs entirely in your browser.
