Calculate print size from pixels and PPI

How large can you print a photo without adding pixels? Enter its pixel width and height, or load a local image and read its dimensions with a button. Then enter at least one target print dimension in centimetres. Leave the other field blank to calculate it proportionally. Choose 150, 300 or 600 PPI, or enter a custom PPI value to override the preset.

The result shows effective resolution on both axes, dimensions in cm, mm and inches, and the maximum print size at your chosen PPI without upscaling. The lower PPI value determines the verdict: print-ready at 100 percent of your target, borderline at 75 percent, and not enough pixels below that. An aspect-ratio difference above one percent triggers a warning. These thresholds provide guidance, not print approval. The calculator does not modify your image or send it to a server.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between PPI and printer DPI?

PPI measures image pixels per printed inch. Printer DPI measures a device's printing dots. This calculator uses image pixels and PPI, not the printer's technical dot resolution.

Why are width and height PPI different?

Different values appear when both target dimensions describe a different aspect ratio from the image. Printing at those exact dimensions would distort it. Leave one dimension blank or crop the image to the correct ratio first. The calculator does not crop images.

Can this calculator enlarge or sharpen my photo?

No. It calculates dimensions and can read pixel dimensions from a local raster image. It does not add pixels, sharpen the picture or change the file. PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF work where your browser supports them. This calculator does not support SVG or HEIC.
