How to record

Why record right in the browser?
You do not need separate software. The recorder uses the Web Audio API, applies noise gate and compressor live, and shows you a level meter. Because everything is computed locally there are no uploads and no data on a server. This is especially handy for quick notes, podcast preparation or dictation.

How do I record in the browser?

Can I pause the recording?
Yes. The recorder has a dedicated Pause button. While paused no audio is captured and the timer stops, keeping the recording cleanly split.
What is the difference between WAV and MP3?
WAV is lossless and larger, ideal for editing. MP3 is compressed and smaller, good for sharing or storing. You can export either one.
Is my recording saved or uploaded?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing is stored except the file you download yourself.
Why is the audio missing from my recording?
Check that the correct microphone is selected and not muted. The noise gate and compressor can heavily reduce very quiet sounds – adjust them if needed.
