Camera Test: check your webcam live and switch cameras
With this camera test you open your webcam and see the live image immediately as a preview. It detects whether a camera is present and whether the browser can access it. If multiple cameras are connected or built in, for example on a laptop or phone, you can switch between them directly. A mirror option helps when the image feels reversed. The live image never leaves your device, everything runs entirely locally.
How to switch between multiple cameras
When the camera selection is visible, all detected cameras are listed. While the image is running, you select another camera and the preview switches over immediately. That is useful when you want to switch between the front and rear camera of your phone, or between a built-in and an attached webcam.
Possible errors and their causes
- Access is denied when a site has no camera permission yet or permission was declined.
- Without a connected camera, the system reports that no camera was found.
- If another application is already using the camera, it refuses to release it.

How do I open my webcam?
Click Open camera and allow access in the browser prompt. The live image then appears in the preview.
Can I switch between multiple cameras?
Yes. When several cameras are detected, the camera selection lists them. While the image is running, you select another camera and the preview switches immediately.
Why is no camera found?
There may be no camera connected, or it is disabled on your system. Check the connection and make sure no other program is holding the camera.
Is my image saved or uploaded?
No. The live image is only shown locally in your browser. It is neither saved nor sent to a server.
What does the mirror option do?
It flips the preview image horizontally. This makes it look like a mirror, which is often the expected impression in video calls.
