Inflation Calculator: what is your money really worth?
The inflation calculator works with the official figures of the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) – not with invented average rates. It uses the Consumer Price Index (CPI), base year 2020 = 100 as a real index table for the past, and for the future only a clearly declared estimate based on your own assumption.
Three modes
- Purchasing power: "What are 100 € from 2015 worth today?" Shows real money devaluation using real CPI values.
- Product price: "A product cost 10 € in 2010 – what does that equal today?" As a purchasing-power equivalent according to the consumer price index (basket ≠ single product).
- Future projection: "What is my money worth in 10 years?" Only as an estimate/scenario with a self-selected inflation assumption – not a forecast, no factual claim.
Honest limits
The past (1991–2025) is a fact from the official index table (as of: 16.01.2026). The future is never presented as a fact – it is based solely on the user-set assumption and is labelled accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
What were 100 € from 2015 worth in 2025?
According to the official CPI (94.5 vs. 100 in 2015 and 121.9 in 2025, base 2020=100), 100 € from 2015 were equivalent to purchasing power of about 129 € in 2025.
Where do the inflation figures come from?
Exclusively from the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), Consumer Price Indices, base year 2020 = 100, GENESIS-Online table 61111-0001, as of: 16.01.2026. No figures are invented.
Is the future projection a forecast?
No. It is an estimate based on the inflation assumption you set yourself. Real values differ – the result is clearly marked as a scenario.
Why does the calculator not use "average inflation"?
Because the CPI fluctuates year by year. Instead of a smoothed assumption, we use the real index for each individual past year, exactly as Destatis publishes it.
