WoW Name Generator

The WoW name generator invents character names in the naming style of World of Warcraft. You pick race and gender, the tool draws fitting first and family names from a large pool and shows them instantly.

Which races are included?

  • Twelve races of Alliance and Horde: human, dwarf, night elf, gnome, draenei, worgen, orc, undead, tauren, troll, blood elf and goblin.
  • Each race follows the Blizzard naming style: tribal for orcs and tauren, British-gothic for undead, business-modern for goblins.
  • Family names match the clans, tribes or families of each race.

How does the generator work?

In Lore mode, the invented names follow the sound of the Blizzard naming conventions. Famous characters like Thrall, Jaina or Sylvanas never appear, so your character gets a real original name. The random pick runs entirely in your browser.

What you can use it for

  • New characters for WoW, WoW Classic and hardcore servers.
  • Roleplay servers like Moonguard or Argent Dawn.
  • Pen-and-paper rounds and fan fiction in a Warcraft style.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real names from the game?

No, the Lore names are invented in the style of the game. Famous characters are deliberately left out, so you get an original name instead of a known NPC name.

How many names can I generate at once?

By default, you get one name per click. For a list, use the count selector to generate up to 50 names at once.

Will the name work in game?

Character names in WoW must be unique per server. The generator gives you suggestions; whether the name is free you check during character creation in game.

Is anything stored?

No, the generator runs entirely in your browser. There is no upload and no storage of your selection.
