Signature pad: Draw a handwritten signature and save a PNG

Draw your signature in the browser and save it as a PNG image. Add a handwritten name to a cover letter or prepare an image for a template. You need no scanner or account. The drawing area accepts a mouse, finger or pen.

Draw and undo individual strokes

Choose black or blue ink and a thin, medium or thick line. These choices apply to new strokes; existing lines keep their original color and width. The pad smooths the recorded points using quadratic curves. It does not use pen pressure, so each stroke has a constant width. A quick tap creates a dot. Use Undo last stroke to remove the last continuous movement, such as a stray mark or an unsuccessful letter. Clear all empties the entire area. Reloading the page also discards the drawing, so download your PNG before leaving.

Choose a background and trim the margins

The drawing area always appears white so that you can see your lines. That preview does not force a white background into the exported file. Choose Transparent to place the signature over a colored document without a white rectangle. Choose White if you want an opaque image. Trimming is enabled by default: it removes unused outer margins and leaves a small gap around the strokes. Disable it to keep the full drawing area and the original placement of your signature.

Click Download PNG to save unterschrift.png. Copy image puts the PNG on the clipboard when your browser supports image copying. This requires a secure connection and permission from the browser. If copying fails, download the file instead. The destination application must also accept image data from the clipboard. Check the contrast against the final document background, especially when using transparency.

A picture is not a qualified electronic signature

A drawn signature is not a qualified electronic signature under eIDAS. This pad does not verify identity, issue a qualified certificate or cryptographically bind an image to a document. It cannot prove consent or show whether a document changed later. Check whether the recipient accepts a pasted signature image. A picture may not meet the formal requirements of your transaction. Use a suitable signing procedure when those requirements apply.

Local processing and further editing

Your strokes and PNG export stay in your browser. The tool sends no drawing to a server and keeps no permanent copy. Treat the downloaded image as sensitive because someone else could reuse it. Use the Image Resizer to adjust image dimensions, or turn images into PDF pages with Image to PDF. The PDF Tools help assemble documents afterwards. None of those steps verifies the legal status of your signature.

Frequently asked questions

Is my signature stored?

The drawing is stored temporarily in browser memory, not on a server. Downloading saves a file; copying creates a clipboard entry. Reloading the page clears the drawing.

Is this a qualified electronic signature?

No. A drawn signature is not a qualified electronic signature under eIDAS. This tool creates a PNG image without identity verification or cryptographic document signing.

How do I get a transparent background?

Select Transparent for the PNG background. The white drawing area is only a preview. The exported image then has no white background layer.

Why does Copy image fail?

Browser support, permissions or the destination application may restrict image copying. Download the PNG and insert it as an image file instead.

Can I remove just the last stroke?

Yes. Each contact until release counts as one stroke. Undo removes the last stroke, rather than individual points within a line.
