Typing Trainer: train typing speed with movie quotes
This typing trainer shows quotes from well-known movies as a template. You type them character by character. Every correct character turns green, every mistake turns red. At the end of a round you see your speed in WPM, the number of correct characters, your errors and your accuracy. A second mode measures how much you can type in a fixed time.
How the training works
Choose between the round mode and the timed test. In round mode one quote rotates per round. If you type a character wrong, you cannot advance until you type the correct character. The failed attempt stays as a red entry and counts toward your error rate. In the timed test you pick 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds and type as much as you can. Once a quote is finished, the trainer automatically moves to the next one.
Speed and accuracy
One unit equals five characters, the usual standard for WPM (words per minute). Accuracy is the share of correct characters among all typed characters. Both values are computed locally and serve your own training progress, they are not an objective comparison with measurements from other programs and devices.
Why no autocorrect?
The trainer intercepts your keystrokes directly and bypasses the browser's automatic correction. No text is handed to an input field that a browser or a browser extension could change or improve. You train exactly what you really type. All data stays in your browser, nothing is transmitted.
For a fair result: type calmly, remove distractions and practice regularly. After a few rounds your speed and confidence increase visibly.
Frequently asked questions
What does WPM mean?
WPM stands for words per minute. In the typing trainer one unit of five characters counts as one word. Speed is correct characters divided by the elapsed time.
How is accuracy calculated?
Accuracy is the share of correct characters among all typed characters, so correct characters divided by the sum of correct characters and errors. A failed attempt appears in red and must be corrected before you can advance.
What is the difference between round and timed test?
In round mode you type one quote completely and get a result afterwards. In timed mode you choose a duration and type as much as you can, quotes follow each other automatically.
Why is autocorrect disabled?
The trainer intercepts keystrokes directly so the browser or an extension cannot change anything automatically. The result shows exactly what you typed.
Are my data uploaded?
No. All inputs and results stay in your browser. Nothing is transmitted to a server.
