Travel budget calculator: plan your holiday budget
The travel budget calculator builds a realistic budget for your holiday, broken down into transport, hotel, food and activities. Keep costs in sight, whether city break, beach holiday or round trip.
How it works
Enter the number of people and nights as well as your spending on hotel (€/night), food (€/person/day), local transport, travelling and activities. The tool calculates the total budget and the amount per person. The defaults (€28 food, €8 local transport) serve as orientation.
Reference values (as of: 2026)
- Hotel Germany: ~€96/night gross average (IHA 2025); typical city hotel €70–120, hostel/dorm €25–45.
- Food: The official daily allowance is €28/day; realistically for travel in DE/EU ~€25–40/person/day.
- Local transport: depending on city ~€6–12/day (e.g. 24-hour ticket Berlin €11.20–12.90, smaller cities from €5.60).

The values are indicative and depend strongly on destination, season and personal standard. The calculator is for rough planning and is not travel advice.
Frequently asked questions
How many rooms are assumed?
The calculator assumes 2 people per room. With an odd number, one more room is counted.
Why is +1 day added for food?
The arrival day is included, so 3 nights count as 4 food days.
Are the reference values mandatory?
No. You can adjust all values freely. The defaults (€28 food, €8 local transport) come from tax / tariff data (as of: 2026).
Is my data stored?
No. All inputs are processed 100% locally in your browser and neither stored nor transmitted.
