Gamepad Tester: check controllers, buttons, and sticks
With this gamepad tester you check whether your controller is detected and whether all buttons and analog sticks respond correctly. Connect your gamepad via USB or Bluetooth, click Start, and then press the buttons one after another. The tester displays every button and both analog sticks live and highlights pressed buttons in color. It uses the Gamepad API directly in the browser, everything runs entirely locally, and nothing is transmitted.
How to connect your gamepad
- Connect the controller via USB cable or Bluetooth to your device.
- Click Search for gamepad and wait a short moment.
- Press any button once so the device reports itself.
- Then watch the buttons and sticks in the live display.
Why a gamepad test is useful
Especially with older or heavily used controllers, individual buttons get stuck or only respond to firm pressure. Analog sticks can also develop play or stick drift, where the value does not return to zero. The tester makes such problems visible before they bother you in a game. This applies to many common controllers, such as Xbox, PlayStation, or compatible models.
Frequently asked questions
How do I test my gamepad?
Connect the controller, click Search for gamepad, and then press the buttons one after another. Every pressed button is highlighted in the display, and the sticks respond live too.
Why is my controller not detected?
Check the connection via cable or Bluetooth and that the controller is turned on. Press a button once so the device reports itself to the browser.
What is stick drift?
Stick drift means an analog stick does not return to the exact center and the value does not sit at zero without touch. The tester shows this directly on the stick display.
Are controller data transmitted?
No. The gamepad data is only processed locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
Does it work with any controller?
The tester uses the standardized Gamepad API and works with most common controllers supported by the browser, such as Xbox, PlayStation, and compatible models.
