Website Auditor
Audit any public URL for SEO factors like HTTP status, title, meta description, H1, alt text, canonical, and sitemap.xml, with pass/fail score.
The public URL to check is fetched via our server to work around browser CORS restrictions. Only the URL you entered is transmitted, no other personal data. The loaded content is then analyzed locally in your browser.

Website audit: check SEO basics for a public URL
The Website Auditor is a quick baseline check for any public website. You enter a URL and the tool checks the key technical and SEO fundamentals: HTTP status, title tag, meta description, language and viewport declarations, H1 structure, image alt text, canonical, Open Graph, favicon, robots.txt and sitemap.xml. As a result you get a clear pass/fail checklist with a score.
Such a first check is ideal before you invest time in a full SEO audit or outside expertise. You spot obvious issues immediately, for example missing meta descriptions, multiple H1s or images without alt text, and can fix them in a targeted way.
What is checked?
- HTTP status of the page.
- Title tag and whether its length is sensible.
- Meta description and its length.
- Lang attribute on the HTML element.
- Viewport for mobile rendering.
- H1 structure and subheadings.
- Alt text of all images.
- Canonical, Open Graph and favicon.
- robots.txt and sitemap.xml.
How does the check work?
The tool fetches the page to check via our server and analyzes the HTML afterwards in your browser. This works even for sites under normal browser CORS restrictions. Private or local addresses (localhost, private-range IP addresses) are blocked for security.
Limits of the tool
The Website Auditor is a technical baseline check, not a full SEO audit. It does not evaluate content quality, backlinks or search rankings. Content that is only loaded via JavaScript afterwards cannot be fully captured. The results are meant as a first indication and do not replace professional judgment.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data sent to a server?
Only the public URL you enter is fetched via our server, so the check also works for sites under CORS restrictions. No other personal data is transmitted. The loaded content is then analyzed in your browser.
Which URLs can I check?
Publicly reachable addresses with http:// or https:// can be checked. Private, local or internal addresses (for example localhost or private-range IP addresses) are blocked for security.
What does the score mean?
The score shows how many of the checks passed, for example 12 of 15. Warnings are counted like failed checks. It gives a quick impression, not an SEO ranking.
Why is content missing on some pages?
Content that is generated via JavaScript after loading cannot be fully captured. The check is based on the delivered HTML source plus the domain's robots.txt and sitemap.xml.
