How it works

The algorithm splits the input text into individual lines and checks each line to determine whether it is empty or consists only of whitespace characters such as spaces, tabs, or line breaks. Empty lines are completely removed, leaving only lines with visible content. A concrete example: a text with the structure Line 1, an empty line, Line 2, another empty line, and Line 3 becomes a continuous sequence of Line 1, Line 2, and Line 3 without any interruption. Lines consisting only of multiple spaces or tabs are also detected as empty and removed.

What the tool can and cannot do

The tool reliably removes all empty lines and whitespace-only lines, regardless of whether they consist of spaces, tabs, or a mix. It processes texts of any length and preserves the order of the remaining lines. However, it does not remove lines that contain comments or specific markers if they have visible characters. There is no option to remove only certain types of empty lines. The tool offers no line numbering or a preview before and after the cleanup.
