Random IPv4 Address
Generate a random IPv4 address to test networking tools or validate configurations, without touching your own network. Runs in your browser, GDPR-compliant.
Your inputs are processed in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers. Note: third-party resources (e.g. advertising and analytics from Google/Cloudflare) and an optional PayPal donation link may transfer data when loading or when clicked. Browser extensions or plugins may be able to read content that is visible in the input fields.

Random IPv4 Address
The IPv4 generator produces a random IPv4 address in the standard format of four dot-separated octets. Each octet can take a value from 0 to 255, yielding 2 to the power of 32, or approximately 4.3 billion possible addresses. The tool is useful for testing networking tools, validating configurations, or conducting security exercises without touching your own network. All calculations run locally in your browser.
How it works
The generator selects a random value between 0 and 255 for each of the four octets. As a concrete example: the generator might produce the address 198.51.100.42. Each octet is drawn independently, meaning the total number of possible combinations is 256 to the power of 4, which is 4,294,967,296. This example falls within the reserved range 198.51.100.0/24, designated for documentation purposes and never used in the real Internet. The generator can also produce addresses from reserved ranges such as 10.x.x.x (private), 127.x.x.x (loopback), or 169.254.x.x (link-local).
What the tool can and cannot do
This tool generates random IPv4 addresses. It cannot establish an actual network connection, ping addresses, or perform traceroutes. It does not validate IP addresses against real network topologies or assign network partitions. Generated addresses may come from reserved or private ranges that are not reachable on the public Internet. The generator does not consider Internet service provider allocation practices and does not produce routable public addresses. It can also generate broadcast or network addresses.
Why local processing in the browser
All calculations happen directly in your browser. Your inputs and the generated IP address are never sent to a server, there is no upload and no server logs. You do not need to register or have an account. After the page loads, the generator also works offline because assets are cached in the browser. There is no attackable server and nothing is transmitted over the network.
Frequently asked questions
Are the generated IP addresses reachable?
No, the generated addresses are random and may come from reserved or private ranges. They are not necessarily reachable on the public Internet.
Do I need to be online?
No, the IPv4 generator works offline after the page loads. All calculations run locally.
Are my data uploaded?
No, your inputs and the generated IP address stay on your device. No upload, no server logs.
Can the generator produce private IP addresses?
Yes, the generator can produce addresses from all ranges including private ranges like 10.x.x.x.
How many possible IPv4 addresses are there?
There are 2 to the power of 32, approximately 4.3 billion possible IPv4 addresses, since each of the four octets can take 256 values.
Is the generator free?
Yes, the IPv4 generator is a free tool that runs directly in your browser.
