Leetspeak
Converts text into leetspeak by turning letters into numbers, a classic encoding style from early online culture. Runs locally in your browser, GDPR-compliant.
Your inputs are processed in your browser and are not transmitted to our servers. Note: third-party resources (e.g. advertising and analytics from Google/Cloudflare) and an optional PayPal donation link may transfer data when loading or when clicked. Browser extensions or plugins may be able to read content that is visible in the input fields.

Leetspeak
The leetspeak generator transforms normal text into the famous hacker language, where letters are replaced by numbers and special characters. This encoding style dates back to early internet culture and is today a popular medium for creative text, password variants, and puzzles. The entire conversion process happens locally in your browser, so not a single character of your input ever leaves your device.
How it works
The tool replaces certain letters with visual equivalents from number script. The classic substitutions are: A becomes 4, E becomes 3, I becomes 1, O becomes 0, S becomes 5, and T becomes 7. A concrete example: the word "password" becomes "p@ssw0rd" or "p455w0rd", depending on the substitution rules used. Even "hacker" becomes "h@x0r" or "h4x0r". The replacement is position-based and treats each letter independently. Spaces, digits, and existing special characters remain unchanged.
What the tool can and cannot do
The tool can convert English and German text into leetspeak and apply the common letter-to-number mappings. It automatically recognizes which letters can be substituted. However, it cannot produce real encryption that is secure. Leetspeak is not a cryptographic method and provides no real privacy. The tool also cannot reliably convert leetspeak back to normal text, because many mappings are ambiguous. It is a creative text toy, not a security tool.
Why local processing in the browser
The entire conversion happens directly on your device. Your text is never sent to a server, there is no upload and no server logs. You need neither an account nor a sign-up. After the page loads, the tool works offline too, because all required assets are cached in the browser. No server can be attacked and nothing is transmitted over the network. You can transform texts as often as you like, discard results, and generate anew, because nothing is stored or tracked.
Frequently asked questions
Which letters are converted in leetspeak?
The classic substitutions are A to 4, E to 3, I to 1, O to 0, S to 5, and T to 7. All other letters remain unchanged. The tool applies these mappings automatically to your text.
Do I need to be online?
No, after the page loads once, the tool works offline. The entire conversion happens locally in your browser.
Are my data uploaded?
No, your text is never sent to a server. Processing happens exclusively on your device, with no upload and no third parties.
Is leetspeak a secure encryption?
No, leetspeak is not a cryptographic method and provides no real privacy. It is a cultural text play and not a security tool. No one should try to hide sensitive data in leetspeak.
Can I convert leetspeak back to normal text?
Reliable reverse conversion is difficult because many mappings are ambiguous. For instance, the number 4 could be either an A or an independent digit. The tool focuses on forward transformation.
Is the leetspeak generator free to use?
Yes, the tool is completely free with no usage restrictions. There are no hidden costs or subscription traps.
