How to use this tool (video)

This video is hosted on YouTube. When you play it, data may be sent to Google.

Embed images into a Word document

The Image to Word converter embeds selected images into a Word document in .docx format. This turns photos, screenshots or scanned signatures into a conveniently editable Word file. Each image is placed on its own page. The resulting document opens in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.

The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your images are not uploaded. Depending on the tool, libraries like JSZip or pdf-lib build the DOCX package locally. You retain full control over your data.

How it works

The converter generates a ZIP package in the Office Open XML format that forms the Word document structure. Each image file is embedded as a document image and placed on its own page. The JSZip library creates the ZIP archive and the file is output as a .docx that can be opened and edited like a normal Word document.

What it can and cannot do

The tool embeds images into a Word document, each image on its own page. It can produce the file in .docx format and offer it as a download. However, it cannot perform text recognition, edit images, or modify or extend existing Word documents. It is a pure embedding utility.

Why local processing in the browser

Everything runs entirely in your browser. Your images are not uploaded or stored on a server. This means full GDPR compliance: no accounts, no sign-up, no data transmission. Process sensitive documents like contracts or protocols without worrying about where your data ends up.

A small contribution to climate action

Every conversion on your device avoids a server request over the Internet. The process consumes only a fraction of the energy needed for a data transfer. The International Energy Agency estimates that data centers consumed about 415 terawatt-hours in 2024, roughly 1.5 percent of global electricity demand. Local tools reduce network traffic.

Frequently asked questions
