CSV Statistics

CSV data comes in many different formats. Some use commas, others semicolons or tabs as delimiters. This tool analyzes your CSV data and automatically detects the delimiter, the number of rows and columns. This way you can quickly assess both the structure and content of a file without opening it. Everything runs locally in your browser.

How it works

The analyzer reads the file line by line and tests various delimiters. It counts the number of characters in each line and compares the distribution. The most frequently occurring delimiter is used as the detected format. For each line it counts how many fields it contains to determine the column count. Likewise the total number of rows is determined. The results show the delimiter, row count, and column count at a glance.

What the tool can and cannot do

The tool can only analyze text-based CSV files. Binary files or database formats are not supported. Very large files may increase analysis time. Delimiter detection may fail if the file contains a mix of different delimiters or if the data is not consistently structured. Detection is limited to the first few lines.

Why local browser processing

Local browser processing means your CSV data never reaches a server. No uploads, no server logs, no third-party access. You need no account. After the page loads, the tool works offline too. There is no server that could be attacked and your data stays on your device. This is especially important with sensitive data like payroll lists or customer information.

Frequently asked questions

How does the tool detect the delimiter?

The analyzer tests several possible delimiters and selects the most frequent one. Comma, semicolon, tab, and pipe are supported.

Muss ich dafür online sein?

No, after the page loads the tool works offline. Resources are cached in the browser.

Werden meine Daten hochgeladen?

No, your CSV data is never sent to a server. Everything is processed locally in your browser.

Does the tool work with very large files?

Yes, but analysis time depends on file size. Browsers may become slow with very large files.

Can the tool detect character encoding?

The tool detects the most common encodings but does not guarantee all cases.

Will the content of the data be displayed?

No, the tool shows only structure information such as delimiter, row and column count.
